ABOUT US

Turkey Hill is the second largest of EG America’s convenience and fuel retail brands with more than 250 store locations across Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Our History

Turkey Hill began as a family-owned dairy business in Pennsylvania in 1931 when farmer Armor Frey started selling bottles of milk to neighbors from his sedan. As the business grew, the dairy expanded to making and selling ice cream throughout Lancaster Country. Armor Frey’s sons, Charles and Emerson, took over the dairy business before opening the first Turkey Hill Minit Market convenience store in the late 1960’s as a way to better market their dairy products. In Lancaster County, Turkey Hill Minit Markets were the overwhelming convenience store choice; in some cases, stores were located as close as three blocks apart. After 20 successful years, the dairy and stores were sold to Kroger where the brand continued to grow. EG Group then acquired Kroger's convenience store business in 2018, gaining the chain of convenience stores as part of its US operations.
